Terms of Service

1. What skinrat is

skinrat is a CS2 skin price comparison, portfolio tracking, and AI chat tool. It aggregates publicly available price data from third-party marketplaces and presents it for informational purposes. skinrat is not a marketplace, you cannot buy, sell, or trade skins on skinrat, and no payments or transactions occur on the platform. skinrat does not verify, endorse, guarantee, or take responsibility for any third-party marketplace, its listings, or its data.

2. Account & eligibility

• You sign in via Steam OpenID. skinrat never receives or stores your Steam password.
• You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by your local jurisdiction) to use the service.
• Your account is personal and non-transferable. You are responsible for all activity under your Steam login.
• Your use of Steam is subject to Valve's own terms of service and subscriber agreement.

3. Acceptable use

You may use skinrat for personal, non-commercial skin research and portfolio tracking. You agree not to:

• Scrape, crawl, or programmatically access skinrat without written permission.
• Use bots, scripts, or other automated tools to interact with the service.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the service.
• Abuse, spam, or overwhelm the AI chat or any other feature.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.
• Interfere with the operation, security, or availability of the service.
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose.

4. Third-party marketplaces, links & websites

skinrat displays data about, and links to, third-party marketplaces and other websites (for example, to let you view a listing or connect an account for portfolio tracking). These links and integrations are provided purely as a convenience so you can find and compare information about skins and marketplaces.

• skinrat is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any third-party marketplace or website unless explicitly stated. Linking to or displaying data from a site does not imply any relationship, endorsement, or recommendation.
• We do not control, and are not responsible for, the content, accuracy, security, pricing, availability, terms of service, or business practices of any third-party site. Your use of any third-party site is solely between you and that site, and is governed by its own terms and policies.
• If you optionally connect a third-party marketplace account (e.g. via an API key) to enable portfolio and P&L features, skinrat accesses data according to that marketplace's own API terms. skinrat is not responsible for issues with your marketplace account, including access loss, key revocation, or disputes with the marketplace. You can disconnect any marketplace at any time from Settings.
• skinrat is not responsible for any loss, damage, or dispute arising from a transaction, account, or interaction you have with a third-party marketplace or website, whether or not it was linked, featured, or mentioned on skinrat.

5. AI chat

skinrat offers an AI chat assistant to help you research skins, prices, and your portfolio. The assistant is built on third-party large language models and automated systems, and its responses ("Output") are generated probabilistically.

• Output may be inaccurate. The AI chat may produce Output that is incorrect, incomplete, outdated, or does not reflect real prices, listings, items, or facts. You should independently verify anything important before relying on it.
• Not professional advice. Output is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not financial, investment, trading, legal, or other professional advice, and should not be treated as a substitute for it.
• Use at your own risk. Any decision you make based on Output, including any purchase, sale, or trade you make on a third-party marketplace, is made at your sole discretion and risk. skinrat does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or timeliness of any Output.
• Inputs and Output. Content you submit to the AI chat (including text and any images you attach) remains yours. By using the AI chat you grant skinrat a limited license to process and store that content, and any Output generated from it, to provide and improve the service.
• Review & improvement. Chat conversations may be reviewed by skinrat or its AI service providers, in an automated or manual capacity, to monitor for abuse, ensure safety, and improve the quality of AI responses. Do not share sensitive personal information (such as government IDs, financial account credentials, or health information) in the chat. See our Privacy Policy for details on how chat data is handled.
• Abusing, spamming, or attempting to jailbreak or misuse the AI chat is prohibited.

6. Marketplace data disclaimer

Prices and other data displayed on skinrat are gathered from third-party marketplaces and shown for informational comparison only. This data may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate, and skinrat does not independently verify it against the source marketplace. skinrat does not guarantee data accuracy and is not liable for any decisions or transactions made based on displayed prices or data. Always verify prices and listing details directly on the marketplace before transacting.

7. Affiliate links, referral programs & sponsored content

Some links to third-party marketplaces displayed on skinrat may be referral or affiliate links. If you click through and make a purchase or create an account, skinrat may receive a commission or other compensation from the linked platform. Referral links are provided at no additional cost to you.

From time to time, skinrat may feature sponsored content, promoted placement, or commercial partnerships with third-party platforms. Where applicable law requires disclosure, such content will be labeled at the point of placement. You should be aware that skinrat may have commercial relationships with some of the platforms it links to, which may influence which platforms are featured or how prominently they appear.

The existence of an affiliate or commercial relationship does not affect the accuracy of market data we display. skinrat is not responsible for the terms, pricing, security, or practices of any third-party platform, regardless of whether a commercial relationship exists.

8. Intellectual property

• The skinrat name, logo, design, and original content are the property of skinrat.
• Counter-Strike 2, CS2, and related assets are trademarks of Valve Corporation. skinrat is not affiliated with or endorsed by Valve.
• Marketplace names and logos belong to their respective owners and are used for identification purposes only.

9. Account termination & suspension

skinrat may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, abuse the service, or at our discretion with reasonable notice. You may delete your account at any time from Settings. Upon termination, your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

10. Limitation of liability

skinrat is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty that the service, its data, or its AI chat will be accurate, uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. To the fullest extent permitted by law, skinrat, its operators, and its licensors will not be liable for:

• Any damages, losses, or issues of any kind arising from, or in connection with, data, prices, statistics, or other information displayed on skinrat, including inaccurate, delayed, incomplete, or outdated data.
• Any damages, losses, or issues arising from Output generated by the AI chat, or from reliance on it, including where Output is used as a basis for a financial or trading decision.
• Any damages, losses, disputes, or other issues arising from your access to, use of, or reliance on any third-party website, marketplace, or platform linked, displayed, or referenced on skinrat, regardless of whether skinrat has a commercial relationship with that site.
• Any purchase, sale, or other transaction you make on a third-party marketplace, including transactions made in reliance on price data or AI chat Output provided by skinrat.
• Service interruptions, downtime, or data loss.
• Actions taken by third-party marketplaces, affiliate partners, or Valve.
• Unauthorized access to your account resulting from your failure to secure your Steam credentials.
• Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including loss of profits or goodwill, even if skinrat has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or liability limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you, in which case our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted in your jurisdiction.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the website. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Continued use of skinrat after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing law

The governing jurisdiction and dispute resolution process will be specified before public launch (pending legal review).
